Acer

Acer was founded by Stan Shih, his wife Carolyn Yeh, and a group of five others as Multitech in 1976, headquartered in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

The company began with eleven employees and US$25,000 in capital. Initially, it was primarily a distributor of electronic parts and a consultant in the use of microprocessor technologies. It produced the Micro-Professor MPF-I training kit, then two Apple II clones, the Microprofessor II and III before joining the emerging IBM PC compatible market, and becoming a significant PC manufacturer. The company was renamed Acer in 1987.

In 1998, Acer reorganized into five groups: Acer International Service Group, Acer Sertek Service Group, Acer Semiconductor Group, Acer Information Products Group, and Acer Peripherals Group. To dispel complaints from clients that Acer competed with its own products and to alleviate the competitive nature of the branded sales vs. contract manufacturing businesses, in 2000 the company spun off the contract business, renaming it Wistron Corporation. The restructuring resulted in two primary units: brand name sales and contract manufacturing.

Acer is a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics corporation, specializing in advanced electronics technology, headquartered in Xizhi, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Acer's products include desktop PCs, laptop PCs, tablets, servers, storage devices, virtual reality devices, displays, smartphones and peripherals.

Acer also sells gaming PCs and accessories under its Predator brand. In the early 2000s, Acer implemented a new business model, shifting from a manufacturer to a designer, marketer and distributor of products, while performing production processes via contract manufacturers.In 2015, Acer was the sixth-largest personal computer vendor in the world.

• Acer beTouch

The Acer beTouch is a smartphone manufactured by Acer Inc. of Taiwan. It is the second smartphone line realized from the company since it acquired phone manufacturer E-ten in 2009. The series is focused on social networking, with direct link to Facebook, Twitter and other social networks

• Acer beTouch E120

The Acer beTouch E120 is an Internet-enabled smartphone by Acer Inc that uses Android 1.6 operating system. It was officially presented at Computex 2010 in Tapei and it looks very similar to Acer beTouch E130

• Acer clear.fi

• Acer ferreri products

In 2003 Acer Inc. signed a sponsorship agreement with Scuderia Ferrari. In 2006 the company formerly Official Supplier became Official Sponsor to Scuderia Ferrari. This sponsorship has led to the creation of Ferrari branded product series: notebooks, netbooks and a smartphone.

The Acer neoTouch is a smartphone manufactured by Acer Inc. of Taiwan. The Acer neoTouch is the third smartphone realized from the company since it acquired phone manufacturer E-ten in 2009, and the first to feature the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.

The Acer AspireRevo was a line of nettop computers from Acer Inc., first released at the end of April 2009
