IT Accessories

Computer accessories like monitors, speakers, and USB devices can expand your options and let you use your computer in new ways. Protect computer parts and computer components with the right bag or case, connect easily with compatible cables, and store any documents and pictures you don't want to lose on a hard drive or in the cloud. Plus, you can accessorize your computer with a compatible mouse, keyboard, shell, charger and more.

Add a Printer

Print in brilliant colors, share your printer between multiple devices, and even access and edit your photos, using an app or your computer. Choose a printer for your computer that reflects how you want to use it. Some printers are better for the home, while others work best for students. An all-in-one computer works great for business use. 3D printers give you more creative range by using special materials to print in 3D. Plus, 3D printers aren't just for professionals. You can use them to create anything from custom toys to kitchen gadgets, and much more.

Keyboards and mouse

It goes without saying that you cannot work on a desktop computer without those two key peripherals: the mouse and keyboard. Both keyboard and mice are available in two versions: wired and cordless. Each of the wired versions connect to the hard drive via a USB or other port while the wireless version makes the same connection without a wire, using electronic transmissions instead. The wireless versions require power from batteries while the wired versions get their power from the hard drive. All are useful with current operating systems and work with both Apple and PC computers.

Keyboards can either be standard keyboards that are rectangular or ergonomic. Ergonomic keyboards feature a pad on the front of the keyboard and a curvier shape. Most are the standard QWERTY keyboards, but many have additional features. Some of these include backlighting, which is ideal for use in low-light conditions; large print; gaming keyboards with additional buttons ideal for use with video games; and touchpads similar to what you see on a laptop computer which eliminate also the need for a mouse.

Computer mouse have the same general shape and have a left-click button, right-click button, scroll wheel and palm rest. More detailed mice may have a middle click button or have an ergonomic ideal for a user's hand. Gaming mice typically have more options, such as programmable controls, lighting, high-definition optical sensors and user profiles held in memory. You can buy a left-handed or right-handed mouse as well, though most are suitable for both.

Audio and video accessories

As personal computing has advanced through the years, so have the audio and video aspects of them. There are audio systems available that rival that of your home or car audio system. Desktop speakers now come with subwoofers, multiple channels, dedicated bass controls and multiple speakers. In addition, it is a good idea to pair these with good computer headphones. Like the mice and keyboards, headphones can be wired or wireless. Wireless headphones offer a terrific range of sound, allowing you to move around your home or office and still hear your music or whatever you are listening to. For work or gaming purposes, these headsets have a built-in microphone. Most computer headsets are over-the-ear types, but there are some on-ear headsets available for those who are more comfortable with that style. Headsets can also have Bluetooth accessibility to connect to your various devices.

Most laptops have built-in cameras that make it easier to have online video calls and post videos to social media. For a desktop computer, it is necessary to add a web camera to the mix. Webcams deliver pictures between 720 and 1080 pixels and a frame rate of at least 30 per second. Some webcams have a built-in microphone, eliminating the need to use your headphones while using the webcam. Webcams can either sit flat on your desk or hard drive or clip onto a monitor.

Power accessories

You need some power accessories to power your desktop computer, and we have the ones you need. This includes extension cords, power strips and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). A UPS allows you to continue working, such as being able to close documents and other files, when the power goes out. They store power within their cells, and that power allows you to operate your computer for a few minutes while the power is disconnected.

Other peripherals

Gaming enthusiasts may want to consider other computer accessories to use with their desktop computers. A joystick works much like a joystick found on a standup video game and are ideal for playing games like flight simulators. Another useful gaming accessory is a driving wheel that is ideal for use with auto racing games. There are also controllers that are like the ones found with video game consoles and work with just about any type of video game that is playable on a PC.
