Refrigerators do more than keep food and beverages at optimum temperatures. They are the most important appliance in any kitchen. Today's refrigerators are stylish and high-tech, with hundreds of different models available from high end to affordable models. Beyond the model, there are countless finishes and colours to choose from like stainless steel, white, black, silver and more.
REFRIGERATOR TYPES
1. SIDE BY SIDE REFRIGERATOR
These fridges are essentially wider-than-usual fridges split in half, with one half being the fridge side and the other being the freezer side. For those who tend to freeze leftovers in high volume, or exist on freezer food, this type of fridge may be ideal. Some side-by-side fridges allocate slightly more room for the fridge section, however the freezer will still be larger than that of any top or bottom freezer model. The doors open from the centre rather than the side, meaning less spatial clearance is required to swing the fridge door(s) open. Side by Side models often come with features such as water dispensers, and external user interface panels, which some may view as desirable features.
2. COMPACT REFRIGERATOR
Compact refrigerators are perfect for offices, small rooms, and anywhere you need to keep food and drink cool but, have limited space.
3. TOP FREEZER REFRIGERATOR
The top freezer refrigerator keeps frozen food at eye level and the fresh food compartment below. This fridge offers some of the widest shelves possible in both the fridge and freezer sections which are ideal if you store lots of items, trays of food or anything large that must be stored flat. Traditionally, this has been the most common type of refrigerator meaning it’s also generally the cheapest, and has the widest range on offer.
4. BOTTOM FREEZER REFRIGERATOR
The bottom-freezer refrigerator is a good option for households that want fresh food at eye level. Also known as a bottom-mount freezer, with the freezer at the bottom of the fridge, less energy is used to keep the section cold, and temperature is more consistent. This design also works well because it keeps your important items that you use frequently at eye-level.
WHICH TYPE OF REFRIGERATOR IS BEST?
To cap it all , the type of refrigerator you’ll end up going with will generally depend on your need and budget. There are no real disadvantages to any of the refrigerators that would dissuade you from buying them, except for the price and space.
