In 1971, they began the trading of fridges and freezers from our retail store in downtown Broad Street, Lagos. The completion of the first ever refrigeration plant at Ilupeju inaugurated the era of the iconic brand, Thermocool. Their new factory began operations assembling high quality fridges, freezers and picnic boxes. There was hardly an occasion that didn’t have Thermocool picnic boxes preserving your food and drinks and every Nigerian home had a Thermocool fridge and freezer.
In 1982, at the turn of the decade further investment in the existing Ilupeju plant saw the development of our fully functional factory with modern designs. This facilitated the production of innovative fridges and freezers especially designed to suit Nigeria’s tropical conditions.
In 1987, Thermocool initiated production of window air-conditioners (whirlpool design). Thermocool were the innovators of cool across Nigeria.
In 2001, At the turn of the millennium, a joint venture between PZ Cussons and Haier gave birth to HPZ, owner of Haier Thermocool, Nigeria’s number 1 cooling appliance brand.
In 2002, Growing need for high quality entertainment appliances led to the creation of the ‘Greatness from greatness’ campaign. This launched the supply of high quality home entertainment products from Haier Thermocool.
In 2005, In line with their continued commitment to deliver added value to their customers, Thermocool commenced the trading of affordable, reliable, small appliances essential for the home including microwaves & cookers.
In 2007, Nigeria’s premium retail electrical store, ‘Coolworld’ is opened in Victoria Island, Lagos selling Thermocool, Haier Thermocool and Thermocool Engineering products. Further stores are quickly opened across the country. The TEC brand is born trading innovative remote controlled gas generators and cookers.
In 2008, Thermocool commences the exportation of its high quality home appliances from Nigeria to the Gold Coast. Ghana welcomed the Thermocool brand and the African Cup of Nations with open arms in the same year.
